Bayern Munich vs Chelsea - The Champions League Final 2012

On Saturday night Chelsea will face Bayern Munich in the Champions League final expecting the sort of opposition they might encounter at the top of the Premier League. This will be the sixth time that the paths of English and German sides have crossed in the final of Europe's most prestigious club tournament. The present score is 4-1 infavour of English clubs, but this is nothing but a statics.
However, there is no need of thinking that this game will be anything but up for grabs as Chelsea have proven they can win against the toughest of opposition, while Bayern have shown their power. There will be a huge advantage for Bayern as the games will be played in Alianz Arena but treating Chelsea an underdog will not be a wise decision. Regarding the home advantage Chelsea midfielder Lampard, who is aiming to become the first man to captain the Blues to European Cup glory, insisted he was relishing the atmosphere that had resulted from Bayern Munich having home advantage this evening.

The odds must favour Bayern now, given home advantage and Chelsea's defensive weaknesses, but they should remember that they lost in 1999 after Sheringham had spotted several of the opposition making celebratory gestures to the German fans before the final whistle. Will history repeat itself onceagain?
